I have the impression that these game reports are reasonably popular. If you're reading these and liking them, let me know: it DOES inspire me to work faster and better at them!

With their greatest foe -- a fellow PC -- vanquished, the players turn to the usual nonsense... )

My tooth has become a mass of searing agony, to the point of invading my thoughts and denying all attempts to ignore or cope. Ha ha ha, I'm fucked.

Yesterday I worked four hours of hell alone.

Today I worked 8 hours of hell, thanks to a computer downtime which tripled my work and crippled my ability to accomplish anything.

Friday I will work *12 hours alone*.

Saturday and Sunday I work 12 hours shifts with Incompetent Girl, who makes more work for me by existing than the ER does in any given day.

I am so very, very depressed right now.

So today I got assaulted!

Really.

I was driving to work, only to discover some idiot blocking the road. Just stopped there yakking with some guy standing in the middle of the street. And yakking, and blocking, and yakking. I give 'em a honk to encourage them to MOVE. Of course neither of them do. The rest of the road clears up, I drive around... dude kicks my car.

So of course I try to find out if my car is damaged and who the hell this guy is so I can file charges. Chumpboy doesn't like that, and he and his friend decided to pile on.

I didn't fight back, and after a minute or so they were either satisfied or knew they were about to get busted hard, because they took off. I got the license plate of the chick they were with, then parked my car.

On the way back I found out that one of my friends from work had seen, if not the whole thing, much of it, and had called the cops. Between the five minutes it took me to park and walk back to where it happened, both the ambulance and the police had come and gone! (Holy crap, response time!) We did catch the police, though, and gave a full report.

I checked in (since, hey, I work in the ER!). I am medically cleared. Scrapes to the wrists and knees, a little cut on my cheek, a sore shoulder. I know I will feel worse later, but such is life. Right now I'm waiting for film for the camera, so I can get pictures of my injuries.

There is very little chance these monkeys will actually be caught. While I did get the license plate of the chick, every likelihood is that she will refuse to give any information about the event. Luckily, my ER visit is covered by my insurance (and my frickin' $80 copay will be covered by AFLAC, yay!). My car appears undamaged (though I didn't have MUCH chance to look at it). My pants are ruined; oops.

So there's MY great adventure for the day.

I've been working morning shifts (starting at 7a) for the weekend. So Thursday night I only permitted myself 6 hours of sleep to kill my sleep schedule, and Friday night I only got six hours as well. This leads me to last night, where again I turned in about midnight.

For some reason I've had nothing but unsteady sleep and strange, unfulfilling dreams. (Some reason? Because my body hates sleeping so early.) So on waking from one of these dreams into the blackest depths of night, I groaned, rolled over to get comfortable, and prayed that the hour or so of sleep I guessed I had left would be more restful.

...Yeah, you all see where this is going. Three minutes into my attempts at summoning slumber once more, hello alarm.

I'm so looking forward to tonight, and the return of my schedule to evenings. Grooooan.

This day has been a bad day from the literal moment it started.

Around midnight or so I grilled up some chicken. I guess it went bad somehow, though HOW I can't imagine, since it was well within its refrigerator lifespan, because no sooner had I finished it than I ended up with pain and nausea that hasn't yet quite gone away. After running back and forth to the bathroom for a while, I finally tried to sleep at around 3AM. I woke up sporadically between 3 and 5; at last, at 5 I woke up decisively, and lay there for two hours or thre hours with an upset stomach.

Around 7:30 or 8 my circadian rhythm kicked in and I passed out till ten, when on those meager hours of sleep I had to drag myself out of bed to go in for my 12 hour day at work. Lacking breakfast material, I decided to leave the house early in the hopes of grabbing something from the cafeteria.

The second, the literal moment I stepped out of the house, it began pouring rain. Now up to this point, it hadn't rained, nor had it particularly seemed like it would, so there I am in my wool coat, which I try not to get wet.

Inexplicably, the usual parking area is crowded -- as it always is these days, for reasons I don't know. It didn't used to be this bad even a few months ago. So I end up forced to park far away, walking to work in the rain. It turns out to be a good thing I came in early, because they have every single access point to the ER blocked off for moronic reasons. I ended up having to go a huge runaround-way through the hospital, arriving at work with no time to spare for my anticipated breakfast.

No sooner do I sit down than one of the hospital big bosses shows and starts asking me to do stuff, and my particular position gets a new responsibility. Nor can I hope to enjoy a breakfast while working, since everyone who's anyone is here lurking around in anticipation of an inspection of doom tomorrow and the next day.

Some days aren't worth having.
