Though no doubt frustrating, your walk sounds like it could be inspirational. I'd be soaking in all that culture and applying it to my writing if it were me. Imagine... A bustling city. Turn back time. Put those people in tunics and elegant court dresses. Turn time forward and dress them in spandex and nylon, artificial fibers and laser guns on their hips.
