At long last, I've successfully forced myself to transition from regular soda to diet soda.

This is not an exclusive transition, I still permit myself to drink regular every so often, such as at restaurants or whatnot. But for "at-home" purposes, I've replaced my two-liters with diet.

I've been trying to convince myself to do this for forever, it seems, recognizing that the massive empty calories of normal soda are only contributing to a slow weight gain that I hope to counteract. With the opportunity for more exercise on the horizon, I do hope to get myself back in shape. This is at least a start.

Don't know if you know this or not, but it has been documented that the artifical sweetener used in most diet sodas, (Aspartame), can cause a person to retain water, hence actually putting on weight. Not to say that it's a definate thing, but there is the chance. But then again, there's the chance that an old lady will accidently hit the gas instead of the brake in a parking garage too.

Water isn't fat, though! I figure that the elimination of the thousands of calories in a two-liter has to be a better deal than any downside it has.

I started drinking a lot more water ages ago, when I started work. Huge giant glasses of it! But for some reason I hate to drink it with an actual meal.

I commend you. I can't do diet soda, so I just went straight to water. It's very hard.

But, I have been able to slowly lose over 30 pounds in 8 months. And, not being able to exercise at all, that is a big amount, I think.

I used to drink at least 6 sodas a day. So many, many, many empty calories.
