Out of nowhere my vision has suddenly gone wacky on me.
I say out of nowhere, but in reality November was a very busy month, during which in addition to my normal editing duties I reviewed hundreds upon hundreds of page proofs for publication. In the course of all this it's not entirely surprising that my eyes might have been strained (in particular, the right one, I think) to the point where my vision is affected. It's also true that last week was particularly rough, such that I didn't have a lot of rest time and did a lot of extra reading. Still, this all doesn't feel to me like it should be past the ability of my eyes to handle.
On the one hand, I'm a little miffed because up till now my eyes have been pretty diligent about stepping up. At my last vision exam (2005) I had 20/20 uncorrected vision. Considering how many people out there have correction in their mid-20's, I don't think that I have anything to be ashamed of there. ^.^ On the other hand, the fact that it seems to be affecting only one eye has me worried that the cause might be more malicious than simple eyestrain. That would, also, be just my luck -- retinal detachment or somesuch ahoy! (It's hard for me to laugh when I had a coworker once who had a retina detach out of the blue.
Oh well; I have an appointment on Thursday to get examinified, which will hopefully shed some light on this subject. Still... did I *really* need this?
