It's interesting to note, on perusing the copy of the police report my lawyer sent me, the pervasive sexism of the witnesses and the complete and total abdication of responsibility by the officers on the scene.

For example, the one witness who reports my interaction with the victim states that I bumped her. Now, this is referring to how, after she knocked me off-balance by shoving into me while getting off the train, she then pushed into me AGAIN as I was attempting to regain my balance. But of course, because I'm a tall male and she's a short female, her *moving sideways into the space I was currently occupying* is "me bumping her".

None of them reported her assaulting me, of course. Because her pounding someone me in the back just didn't happen, right? Or they didn't see it, despite seeing and perfectly remembering everything else that happened, right?

Meanwhile, the police officers *completely and totally mischaracterized my statements. According to them, I *admitted to the assault and tried to blame it on her*. Bullshit.

I'm going to have to negotiate about some of the terms here. My retainer is buying all of ten hours of work. If they expect another full retainer every time I exceed my previous one, I just can't manage that. Over time I can pay, sure, but... not in large lump sumps repeatedly.

Even if I'm declared not guilty, or make the charges go away, this bullshit accusation has destroyed me financially for years to come. YEARS. I don't know what to do except cry, but I can't even do that now. I don't know what to do except pray he lets me make payments.
