I read the translations of the Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya (and the other eight light novels) -- ow, my head! I'd heard rumblings of how deep the series actually goes, but ow! It's all the weirder for being written so lightly, though I wonder how much of that is an artifact of the translation and inherent linguistic differences. (Though it can't be too much of an artifact, given that these are in fact light novels.)

Well, something else to add to the list of anime I want to see, right behind Lucky Star and Azumanga Daoih.

(Um, is it just me, or do I have unusual taste in anime for a guy who was, two entries ago, gleefully squeeing over the Ace Attorney series because of its epic appropriation of shonen conventions? Or does the fact that I described myself as "squeeing" just make things even more confused?)
