My job is not terribly exciting; it mostly involves going through documents and inserting tags. SGML tags, even, so it's not inscrutable; you could probably figure them out if you read them, mostly.

I wish we were allowed to listen to music or whatnot while we edited, but we have to keep an ear out for phones or other editors trying to get our attention. Fortunately the office is for the most part very quiet. It's immensely different from the ever-loud ER, where noise was constant and irritating.

The combined upshot of all of this is that entirely too often I find myself adding Batman-esque sound effects to my macro key pushes, under my breath.

Ctrl-A: "Pow!"
Ctrl-B: "Bam!"

At some point someone is going to hear me doing this, I'm certain of it. But it makes the job more bearable. Uh, so if I vanish, it's always possible I've been committed...
