I've been sitting on this a little (save for a few people who I'd been particularly aggravating to, and thus deserved to know) but at this point, with a declared start date and everything, it looks pretty official. That is to say, talking about it probably can't jinx it for me at this point.
As of March 3rd I'll be working as a Writer-Editor at the Federal Register. I interviewed for this position back in December -- quick work by the government, there -- but from even my short experience at the interview, it seems like it'll be a decent job. At the least, I'll be getting a reasonable paycheck, and the opportunity for internal advancement actually EXISTS, as opposed to most jobs I've worked.
The commute will be hell, but I expected that, and with luck I'll find ways and means to make it bearable, even productive. I'll just be glad to be employed, insured, and paid once again.
